Indian Student, 23, Goes Missing In The US

The major concern in the US for the safety of the Indian students after Nitheesha went missing and several other life-threatening cases.

Who is Missing?

Nitheesha Kandula, a 23-year-old student from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), has been missing since May 28.

Last Seen in Los Angeles

Nitheesha was last seen in Los Angeles. She was reported missing on May 30. John Guttierez, Chief of Police at CSUSB, shared this information on social media, asking for help from the public to find her.

Nitheesha is described as:

  • Height: 5 feet 6 inches
  • Weight: 160 pounds (72.5 kgs)
  • Hair: Black
  • Eyes: Black

She might be driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla with a California license plate. The colour of the car is not known.

Mohammad Abdul Arfath

In April, 25-year-old Mohammad Abdul Arfath, an Indian student, was found dead in Cleveland. He was from Hyderabad and was pursuing a Master’s in IT from Cleveland University.

Amarnath Ghosh

In March, 34-year-old Amarnath Ghosh, a classical dancer from India, was shot dead in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sameer Kamath

On February 5, 23-year-old Sameer Kamath, an Indian-American student at Purdue University, was found dead in a nature preserve in Indiana.

Vivek Taneja

On February 2, 41-year-old Vivek Taneja, an Indian-origin IT executive, suffered life-threatening injuries during an assault outside a restaurant in Washington.

Akul Dhawan

In January, 18-year-old Akul Dhawan student of the University of Illinois was found unresponsive outside a campus building. He died due to hypothermia, with alcohol intoxication and cold temperatures contributing to his death.

After these incidents, it has become a major concern for the safety of Indian students in the US. The authorities are working to find Nitheesha Kandula and are seeking the public’s help to find her as soon as possible.
