Broadening the brand-building horizons: Abbey Thom Sunil launches his book, “Brand Nirmanam. Part 1.”


In an exciting series of events, “Brand Nirmanam, Part 1: The Awakening of Brand Dharma” was launched between May 2 and May 7. The author, Abbey Thom Sunil, joined hands with several prominent personalities to become a part of his transformational project that bridges the timeless wisdom of old Indian traditions with the dynamic field of current branding philosophy, bringing about radical changes in the marketing landscape. The book’s launch event grew into a cultural event filled with intellectual discussions, popular gatherings, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude. 

The journey began with a pre-launch event on May 2, a glamorous event organised with the help of “Markos”, titled the best marketing society of the University of Delhi, where hope hung thick in the air. Attendees ranging from avid readers in the form of college students to academicians and teachers gathered in keen expectation when the core of the book and its distinctive narrative style took the stage. Following the exhilaration of scholarly speech and knowledge, guests continued on a fascinating trip through ancient mythology and current branding techniques. Through insight, the event marked the first unveiling of what promised to be a literary masterpiece—a fresh fusion of timeless wisdom and modern branding philosophy.

After the pre-launch event, in a historic moment, the author got a chance to present and gift his book to two of India’s highest dignitaries, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu. Following this event, the author gifted the book to Shri Pawan Rana, General Secretary, BJP Delhi Wing. This event marked as a milestone in the book’s journey, reflecting its importance and recognition. The acknowledgment from such esteemed leaders underscored the book’s potential to influence and inspire. This distinguished endorsement elevated the book’s status, promising to impact readers nationwide.

The celebration of this literary masterpiece continued as the book was presented to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a ceremony that underscored his commitment to exploring innovative approaches and diverse perspectives. Mr. Dhami on receiving the book, expressed his joy and said, “Brand Nirmanam can be easily called a unique blend of our rich cultural heritage and modern branding strategies.” He further added, “It will serve as a valuable source, it reflects the ethos of Uttarakhand, and it will inspire many to delve into our traditions with a fresh perspective.”  This book is not just a literary work but it is a work striving to revive and integrate India’s cultural legacy with modernity together through a thread beautifully weaved by Abbey Thom Sunil.

Following this momentous occasion, the spotlight shifted to Mr. Indresh Kumar, a toweringly determined figure in Indian socio-political discourse and nationalist executive member of the nationalist organisation  Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)  and sponsor of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM). As the book was gifted to him, it symbolised a literary gesture and a profound acknowledgment of his lifelong dedication to the beliefs enshrined within its pages. “He has done a commendable job in creating a harmonious blend of the two, said Mr. Indresh Kumar upon receiving the book the following day. In accepting this literary treasure, Mr. Kumar affirmed his role as a custodian of India’s cultural legacy and a torchbearer for the values espoused in “Brand Nirmanam,” The author, Abbey Thom Sunil, signaling a union of minds dedicated to the rejuvenation of India’s cultural ethos.

The book was then presented and gifted to Prof.Rakesh Sinha, a member of the Rajya Sabha of the Parliament of India . Prof. Sinha has left an indelible mark on not just Indian academia but politics too, serving as a beacon of intellectual discourse and cultural perseverance. Having worked under Prof. Sinha in the past, the author shared a deep intellectual rapport with the esteemed scholar, engaging in various discussions on literature, philosophy, and the role books often play in shaping societal consciousness. The presentation of the book “Brand Nirmnam” to him symbolised a meeting of kindred spirits—two individuals united by their shared reverence for the written word and their dedication to intellectual exploration.

The first public release of Brand Nirmanam took place on May 6 at the John’s Orthodox Church, led by Fr. Saji Abraham, who is the diocesan secretary of Delhi dioceses of the Orthodox churches. The event was attended by over 300 members. Fr. Saji Abraham left a beautiful remark, saying, “This book offers a convergence of faith and intellect, which can’t be found that often these days, The book in it holds the essence that invites the readers on a journey of enlightenment.” After the event at the church, the book was then gifted to Principal Sr. Mary Remya of Notre Dame School, BTPS, Delhi. The school community praised the book for its profound message of inclusivity and spiritual enlightenment. All the members of the school resonated deeply with “Brand Nirmanam,” a profound message about inclusivity and spiritual enlightenment. Sr. Mary Remya also shared her thoughts, stating, “Brand Nirmanam is a transformative work that will greatly benefit our students. It promotes a deeper understanding of cultural heritage while encouraging modern academic pursuits.”

The final and most-awaited public introduction of the book occurred on May 7 at Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi, during the national conference that was conducted on the theme “India@2047.” The event was graced by the chief guest Shri. Bharat Bhushan Arora, current director of Bharat Prakashan, and distinguished faculty members of the college, including Principal Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari, Prof.Gitanjali Chawla Prof. Maneesha, Ms Puneeta Agarwal, other faculty members and students. The atmosphere was vibrant with intellectual fervour as attendees celebrated the culmination of the book’s journey.

Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari praised the author, saying, “Abbey Thom Sunil has made a significant contribution to the discourse on branding and cultural heritage. This book will undoubtedly influence modern thought and set a proud legacy for the students of this esteemed college.” To this, Mr Bhushan added, “This integration of ancient wisdom with modern branding is unique and new to the form of literary wisdom the people are used to; the book envelopes both innovative and enlightening work. It encourages a holistic approach to understanding our cultural ethos.”

As the events concluded, the author, Abbey Thom Sunil, also expressed his gratitude to his friends and family for their unending  support.  Special recognition was also extended to Prof. Deepa Sharma , a current teaching faculty at Maharaja Agrasen College , whose mentorship ,guidance  and support has played a pivotal role in shaping the author’s vision for the book. He acknowledged that the journey of creating ‘Brand Nirmanam’ was filled with challenges , but it was the encouragement that he received from his loved ones that made this work possible. While expressing his joy and gratitude, he didn’t miss out on mentioning that he was even more determined for his next writing journey. 

With the launch of “Brand Nirmanam, Part 1: The Awakening of Brand Dharma,” Abbey Thom Sunil has not only introduced a literary masterpiece but has also initiated  a spirited dialogue on the intersection of traditional and modern branding techniques .  The book promises to be a cornerstone in the evolving landscape of branding and cultural philosophy, paving the way for future explorations in this field.
